The 2016 election is about two ideologies that are starkly different in their economic approach, and their impact on freedom. One ideology, based on individual freedom and the American Dream, has created the greatest economic powerhouse in the world; the other, based on a Socialist philosophy of federal government control, has failed everywhere it has been tried. It is failing here…
Voters need to understand the economic threat of reckless spending, mindless borrowing, freedom-crushing overtaxation, and punitive regulation. Without dramatic reform of current government policies, the US will not be able to borrow enough to pay its debts. Without reform, every program that depends on government funding…education, health care, pensions, police protection, military readiness, welfare, environmental protection, mortgage loans, student aid, the interstate transportation infrastructure… and even planned parenthood, will be drastically affected. Some programs will be significantly defunded, others will be eliminated. Without reform of Social Security and Medicare for future retirees, benefits for existing retirees will have to be reduced. Today, interest rates are almost at zero, tax revenues are at historic highs, and yet the government still doesn’t have enough money to fund the false promises of career politicians. In 2015, after capping federal spending with sequestration, and decimating our military capability, the government still has to borrow 16 cents for every dollar it spends. In the past seven years under Barack Obama’s policies, the federal debt has doubled to more than 18 trillion dollars, more debt than accumulated in the past 200 years, and this debt burden is increasing at the rate of 500 million dollars per day! Students protesting for politically correct speech and “safe zones”are so out of touch with reality that they are oblivious to critical problems that they will be forced to live with. For decades, corrupt politicians have promised more than the government can deliver. The government has operated on borrowed money for 45 of the last 50 years. Voters need to know what happens when the money runs out. Voters need to know that the same policies that are driving the US into bankruptcy, are the same policies that prevent job creation, economic prosperity, and the American Dream.
Barack Obama warns us that the greatest threat facing America and the world is “Climate Change” caused by man’s use of oil, gas, and coal. This President thinks a significant number of Americans are stupid. The “hidden goal” is to deceive the public and impose huge new taxes on these vital sources of energy. Americans understand the obvious global threat of Radical Islamic Terrorism in spite of the President’s unwillingness to identify it. Americans can easily determine which threat is real. But the greatest threat is the lack of economic growth. We can’t fight terrorism without the financial resources to restore our military capability. Economic Growth is the most critical issue.
Future political discussions must provide voters with insight into a candidate’s economic understanding, plans to create jobs, plans to create economic prosperity, and plans to reduce the crushing debt burden that threatens to bankrupt the country. The discussions must deal with tax reform, regulation reform, entitlement reform, and the economic policies that would provide the best platform to return America to greatness. Voters are not stupid, they are just misinformed by lies, deception, and apathy.
The 2016 presidential election will require a united front to defeat the Socialist policies of Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. Voters who stay home because their favorite candidate didn’t get the nomination, might as well vote for Hillary. Any Republican candidate that does not get the nomination should put the national interest ahead of his, or her, personal interest, and vigorously support the nominee. Those who don’t unite will prove Obama’s belief of voter stupidity to be correct.
